Unfortunately for this week's entry my Hi8 camcorder has finally given up and stopped functioning so I have been forced to record an audio only version this week letting you know what I'm up to.

Week two at University has been really busy. Last week I spoke to you about my induction week which was basically an introduction to the course and getting to meet everybody who is in my class. This week was basically the first full on week with lots of briefs and guides on what kind of assessments we're going to get. We've got three modules, one per trimester so three in a year.

One I was working on was called Film Project 1 where my class was split into groups of about five where we were to produce a programme between twelve and fifteen minutes in length. We decided on producing a magazine show where we began researching well known TV shows such as the One Show, the Hour to generate ideas and by week eleven we came up with a finished programme.

For our programme we decided to feature two presenters including interviews with a number of guests combined with video packages pieced together on particular subjects then include nice graphic elements and titles to give the production a more professional finish.

The second module we were involved with, a research module involved us having to pitch an idea for a programme. We had to produce a treatmet proposal and outline of a programme. One exciting opportunity I managed to experience was visiting BBC Scotland Pacific QuayStudios in Glasgow to get to go behind the scenes on one of the programmes.

Our third first module was a presentation module where it was all about getting in front of the camera and improving our skills in talking and connecting with the audience. We experienced a fun exercise where we all did a piece to camera and tried to do in the form of a news report. I found this very challening and wasn't feeling confident at the time.

In addition to the above I've been spending time in the library and also been involved with a camera exercise where we were practising skills including pull focusing.
